The IPWEA Fleet Management Training Days are an opportunity for fleet practitioners, coordinators and managers to get together and learn from each other to solve the common issues or share tips on managing challenging projects.

The 2026 IPWEA Fleet Management Training Days will feature a program shaped by direct input from the IPWEA Fleet community and delegate feedback from the national conference. These training days will be held across Australia and New Zealand and are designed to deliver targeted, practical learning for fleet practitioners.

The training sessions have been designed to provide ongoing professional development and networking opportunities, introduce best practice and provide an update on the latest technology in the various fields of plant and vehicle management.

At the end of the day participants will be able to:

  • Understand the key cost components involved in EV total cost of ownership, including purchase price, fuel, maintenance, and residual value, compared to existing fleet vehicles
  • Explain the infrastructure and charging requirements needed to support EV adoption across organisational, workforce, and regional contexts
  • Identify the key elements of a strategic fleet management plan, including relevant policy obligations, sustainability targets, and Chain of Responsibility requirements
  • Describe the procurement frameworks used in fleet decision-making, including specification writing, standardisation, and own vs. lease considerations
  • Recognise the role of telematics and KPI data in measuring fleet utilisation, efficiency, and cost performance
  • Explain how AI-powered tools and financial modelling techniques are used to support fleet management decisions and internal hire rate calculations

Marc Sibbald

Marc Sibbald
Director IPWEA FLEET

Marc has been the Director IPWEA Fleet since 2022 and is accountable for the strategic development of the fleet program which means working with the members and Fleet Council to develop education programs, resources, and networking opportunities to increase the capability and capacity of the fleet community.

Marc started in fleet as a motor mechanic and used his technical training to explore many different parts of the automotive industry. Roles have included sales and marketing at Ampol, operations at SG Fleet, and leadership positions with global tyre brands. He is also a regular contributor to Fleet Auto News, Fleet EV News and Fleet HV News.

Edwin Higginson

Edwin Higginson

Edwin has over 20 years of experience working as Fleet Manager for companies such as Woolworths, Qube and McColl’s transport, he now works as a consultant to assist companies improve their fleet management practices with a focus on workshop management, policies and procedures, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR). Edwin is also a Director of Australian Electric Vehicle Specialists helping businesses convert fleets to low and zero emission vehicles with practical EV transition plans and EV charging infrastructure solutions.

Peter Armour

Drawing on a diverse background in the Defence Force, local government, and the not-for-profit sector, Peter is now in his third year with the IPWEA Fleet team. Throughout his consulting and business career, he has trained hundreds of students and colleagues in the principles of fleet management, directly fostering their professional development and career advancement. With a proactive approach to workplace learning, Peter’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovative leadership makes him an exceptional mentor and industry guide.
