Emerging Leader Scholarship

2026 winners have now been announced!

IPWEA’s Emerging Leader in Asset Management Scholarship supports the development of asset management capability, combined with the development of the leadership skills and techniques required to promote and lead sustainable practice within your organisation. Combining two world class online courses, the Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning and AGSM Leadership Fundamentals, this scholarship offers a significant development for an individual seeking to lead asset management into the future.

This scholarship recognizes AGSM’s recognition of the Professional Certificate course within the Certificate of Executive Management and Development (CEMD) micro credentialing scheme. At the conclusion of both courses, the recipient will have 6 points (12 required) to achieving AGSM’s CEMD credential.

Scholarship Inclusions

The scholarship recipient (1) will receive the following:

  • Enrolment in IPWEA’s Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning and AGSM’s Leading with Resilience.
  • A 1-year subscription to the International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM).

Scholarship Application

The scholarship will be awarded based on merit and will be judged by a panel of IPWEA nominated representatives. Applicants must complete the following short-answer questions:

  • Please detail how undertaking the Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning and Leading with Resilience will assist you in developing your career and network.
  • Explain why enhancing your leadership capabilities will impact your capacity as an asset management professional?
  • Please detail how will this scholarship enable you to positively impact your organisation and the communities it serves?

 

Scholarship Application Process

Only applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and submit a complete application will be considered. Applicants must submit:

  • A curriculum vitae
  • A response to the Scholarship Criteria
  • Proof of IPWEA membership
  • A letter of support from your employer

Scholarship Selection Process

Scholarship applications will be reviewed by a Selection Panel comprising the IPWEA Asset Management Committee.

Eligibility

To qualify for the Emerging Leader in Asset Management Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a current IPWEA/IPWEA Aotearoa member;
  • Be currently working in an asset management role;
  • Be willing to sign a scholarship agreement, outlining the terms and conditions of the scholarship.
