The fleet management industry has such a diverse range of people and roles, and everyone has a unique story of their journey in our industry. This month we recognise Matthew Smith from Total Metering Services Pty Ltd for being awarded the 2021 IPWEA FLEET Award. This award is made to the highest ranked individual who completes the IPWEA Fleet Management Certificate in the preceding year. Matthew was recognised for his achievement at IPWEA’s recent virtual fleet conference.
Matthew Smith is currently employed as the National Warehousing & Assets Manager for Total Metering Services Pty Ltd in Dubbo, NSW. The company is a leading field service provider and specialises in installing and servicing smart meters for business and residential customers of Australia’s leading electricity retailers. TMS currently installs and services over 100,000 digital meters nationally on an annual basis.
Matthew completed the IPWEA Fleet Management Certificate in 2020. Stephen Haughey, IPWEA FLEET Consultant and lead assessor for the Fleet Management Certificate said “The IPWEA Fleet Award is made to the highest ranked individual who completes the Fleet Management Certificate in the previous year. The award is assessed objectively on the quality of the formal assessment tasks provided by all students.
Upon receipt of the award, Matthew stated, “Through my previous position as Asset & Fleet Coordinator for my Local Council, I was fortunate enough to attend this course.” He continued, “I found the course to be structured well and the course content to be clear and informative. Using the knowledge gained from attending the IPWEA Fleet Management Certificate, I have been able to apply the principles in my current position to make calculated decisions regarding the companies 150+ strong fleet.”
Matthew also said, “I would recommend this course for those looking for helpful content that can be applied realistically.”
