Cleanaway resuming services

Cleanaway is steadily resuming services with councils across Australia after the waste collection service grounded its entire fleet of trucks and drivers.

From Saturday, 23 August, Cleanaway has been operating partial services for its customers and was expecting all areas to be operating close to full capacity by this week.

The company grounded its fleet after one of its trucks was involved in an accident in Adelaide on Monday, 18 August that resulted in a fatality and seriously injured three others.

In a statement dated Monday, 25 August 2014, the company said its thoughts and prayers were with those involved in the accident. It also thanked its customers and the communities affected for their support of its decision to take its fleet off the roads.

“We appreciate that the disruption to our service has affected our customers. After careful inspection and review of all our trucks and drivers, we are progressively resuming our services. We have put on extra services to clear the backlog and expect being back to normal within seven days.

“We are grateful to those local councils and industry peers who rallied to ensure critical waste collections continued so as to minimise public health issues.”
