Tyre management, small plant management, and fuel storage and dispensing are the feature topics at the one-day Plant & Vehicle Management workshops, which will commence in the week beginning 14 October.

The workshops will deliver information on the latest technology and best practice in these fields, and provide the opportunity for delegates to question the experts. The workshops will also provide valuable networking time with like-minded people at the various locations. Best practice tyre management

We asked Thomas Hayes, National Manager in Fleet and Government at Tyres4U – who will be presenting one of the sessions on best-practice tyre management – to outline his presentation and why the workshops will be valuable for fleet management professionals.

What will you be covering in the Best-Practice Tyre Management session?

    • Tyre pressure monitoring system usage;
    • Reminder of tyre basics;
    • Latest in tyre technologies;
    • CPK [cost per kilometre] tracking and its relevance to your fleet.

What are some of the most common mistakes or misconceptions among fleet managers when it comes to tyre management?

    • That the tyre store fits the correct product always;
    • That success with one brand of tyre in one region of Australia means success everywhere else;
    • Or that nitrogen is worth the cost…

Why should fleet managers attend your session?

    • To remind them about tyre basics;
    • Learn how to save money on tyres in operation;
    • Learn about the latest technologies in tyres;
    • And to discuss current challenges in an open forum.

Topics explored in the one-day workshops include:
  • Open Forum – News update, Q&A, open discussion forum on your local issues.
  • Best-practice tyre management – Applying the latest technologies in improving tyre performance.
  • Small plant management – Best-practice solutions for vibrations, emissions compliance and fuel management (pre-mix fuels), and a glimpse of the latest technology.
  • Fuel storage and dispensing – Industry best-practice in storage and handling of diesel, petrol and AdBlue, and how to reduce your fleet operating costs.
  • Challenges facing plant and fleet managers – What are the major challenges and how do we deal with them?
