Maximising the resale value of your fleet

By FLEET e-news posted 29-10-2012 15:35

Fleet managers procuring new items of fleet and plant should be mindful of the options that will impact on the resale of the vehicles.

The 2012 IPWEA Plant & Vehicle Management Manual lists some of the options that can improve the resale potential for vehicles and therefore lower the annual operating costs.

It also lists some of the options that can reduce resale value and should be avoided.

Some of the options that have a positive impact include:

• Swinging tailgates
• Air-operated tailgates
• Roll tarps
• Medium wheelbase tray trucks
• Lockable toolboxes
• Air conditioning

Some of the options that should be avoided include:

• Short wheelbase tippers
• Twin-steer single drive
• Side-lifting platform

For a full list of the options than can improve or reduce the resale value of fleet items, obtain your copy of the IPWEA Plant & Vehicle Management Manual at www.ipwea.org.au/FleetManualv3
