Road to Rotorua: plan your trip

Whether you are travelling from Melbourne or Perth, here is all the information you need to travel to IPWEA’s conference in Rotorua.


Registrations are ramping up for IPWEA’s 2015 joint conference with IFME to be held in Rotorua, New Zealand from 7-11 June.

Delegates will be travelling from far and wide to attend the conference, so we have put together all the information you need to book your travel.

1. Book your flights


Delegates travelling from Australia to Rotorua:

Option 1: Fly direct to Rotorua (Note: It appears that direct flights may now not be available)
Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand have a partnership so you can book from anywhere in Australia to Rotorua on the Virgin Australia website.

Flight time
• Sydney to Rotorua: 5h30min
• Melbourne to Rotorua: 8h
• Brisbane to Rotorua: 6h
• Perth to Rotorua: 10h

Option 2: Stopover in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch
•    Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne all fly direct to Auckland Wellington and Christchurch.
•    Within New Zealand, there are direct flights to Rotorua from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Flight time
• Auckland to Rotorua: 40mins
• Wellington to Rotorua: 1h10mins
• Christchurch to Rotorua: 1h45mins

Option 3: Drive from Auckland, Wellington or Christchuch

The cost of a lower cost rental car for six days can be similar to the cost of return flights from Auckland and Rotorua for two people.

Book your hotel

The conference is being held at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre, Rotorua Gardens, Rotoruan, just a few minutes walk from the city centre and suggested hotels below.

Note: The best way to book your accommodation is as part of the Conference Registration process as we have rooms on reserve for the conference.

Accommodation can be secured at several properties close to the Rotorua Energy Events Centre as detailed below. A deposit of one nights's accommodation is required to guarantee the booking. Full payment can be made if preferred. Costs quoted are per room, per night based on a single or double occupancy and include GST. Cancellations or amendments will incur a cancellation/amendment fee.

Please note: Cancellations made within 30 days will incur a penalty fee of a minimum of one night. Cancellations made within 7 days at the Ibis and Novotel will incur a penalty fee of your entire stay.
