The IPWEA is making its mark internationally, with CEO Chris Champion recently reappointed to the US Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Transportation Asset Management Expert Task Group, while the FHWA has also published a report arising out of workshops delivered to their State Departments of Transportation by IPWEA NAMS.AU Project Manager,
John Howard.

"As State transportation officials implement new financial planning and asset management provisions of Federal law, the experience of their Australian counterparts hold several lessons," stated the FHWA report, titled
Australian Financial Plans and Their Relevance to U.S. Agencies.
"The [October 2013] workshops provided the US officials with an in-depth briefing on the Australian plans and allowed them to interact with Mr Howard on how such [financial] plans could be applied to the US context," the report explained.
IPWEA CEO Chris Champion was invited to join the FHWA Expert Task Group thanks to IPWEA's leadership and expertise in asset management. The Task Group will serve as a forum to discuss changes in the way transportation agencies are managing assets, and will meet in person twice a year over the next two years and 10 times via conference calls and web-enabled meetings.
The Group aims to produce white papers, presentations and to conduct peer exchanges to disseminate best practices to the asset management community.
