The National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP) is a national collaborative program on road safety that draws on the strengths of existing programs and initiatives, whilst encouraging better practice, innovation and shared learning. It aims to help Australian organisations develop a positive road safety culture and, in turn, become an example for others to enhance road safety nationally.

The NRSPP has developed a campaign with the theme “What’s On Your Mind? No Distraction” and at the same time made available a range of evidence-based resources called Tool Box Talks which enable organisations to engage in a conversation with its workers on key road safety risks.

Jerome Carslake, who has managed the development and growth of NRSPP from inception to ongoing operations, says that “the NRSPP Steering Committee has released all of the program’s Tool Box Talks for free, and we have released an organisational road safety campaign centred on driver distraction this month as well.”

In addition, Jerome says that the Tool Box Talks “can be easily downloaded in bulk amounts instead of piecemeal through the website. They can all be accessed in individual groups on the knowledge centre if people follow that path.”

Distraction has been identified as one of the fatal five risks on the road. Based on this, the NRSPP developed the Distracted Driving Campaign to help organisations educate their workforce on the problem. The NRSPP has put together a range of materials and guidance including fact sheets, videos, posters, banners and other educational material. Further information can be found on the Distracted Driving Campaign web page.

The free Tool Box Talks are designed to provide Team Leaders/Managers and Facilitators with the required resources and information to conduct a tool box safety talk about any number of key road related risk to a group of workers within the organisation. Further information can be found on the Tool Box Talks Now Free web page.
