IPWEA is proud to welcome Tasmania’s Matthew Greskie as its new President.

Mr Greskie has been IPWEA Vice President and Chair of IPWEA’s Audit and Risk Committee for the past two years.

Hailing from Devonport on the Apple Isle’s north-west coast, Mr Greskie is CEO of Dulverton Waste Management, which won the Waste Management Association Australia Landfill Excellence Award 2017 against many much larger and internationally-backed waste facilities.

In accepting the honour, Mr Greskie said he saw only positive things ahead for IPWEA.

“I feel quite humbled to be taking on the stewardship of this highly respected organisation for the next two years,” he said.

“Our International Division is going ahead in leaps and bounds, and we are highly regarded by the Federal Government through our leadership of the Street Lighting and Smart Controls (SLSC) programme.

“Our finances are in great shape and we have an excellent management team at the helm.”

Mr Greskie also paid tribute to outgoing President Ross Goyne.

“Ross was without equal when it came to being a passionate advocate for IPWEA. The end of his term as President concludes more than 30 years of IPWEA involvement. He has done more than could be asked of any president and we are indebted to him for his leadership and vision during the past two years,” he said.

Mr Greskie added: “My vision is to ensure, with the support of the Board, that we continue to strengthen our industry leadership, our financial standing, and to support our CEO, Robert Fuller and his team, as we address the issues confronting all public works practitioners in their delivery of community services and essential infrastructure.” 

Looking ahead, Mr Greskie said there was still a great deal to be done for the industry, both within Australia and New Zealand as well as internationally.

“Fortunately, our region is held in high regard around the world for our asset management professionalism. The US, Canada, Scandinavia and more than twelve other countries use IPWEA’s asset management systems and training,” he said.

With Divisions in every state of Australia plus New Zealand and an office in Canada, IPWEA is the peak industry body advising all tiers of government on best practice asset management.

Graduating from RMIT with honours in a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) in 1998, Mat has since undertaken a diverse range of engineering roles. For the past 15 years he has enjoyed management focused roles in the public works space. In more recent times he has also added some Director positions to his accountabilities including being a Director of OAK|Possability, Tasmania’s largest disability service provider with in excess of 750 staff and experiencing significant growth.

He has served on the Tasmanian IPWEA Division Board since 2008, including as Vice-President and President.
