Sri Lanka's Consul General Lal Wickrematunge and senior government infrastructure personnel, together with RMIT, were very keen to meet with IPWEA Australasia CEO, Robert Fuller and Director International, Chris Champion, when a Sri Lankan delegation visited Australia last week.

Top of the list of issues was how Sri Lanka could benefit from IPWEA’s asset management training and application of the IIMM.

With some very large World Bank funded projects, the Sri Lankan government is keen to ensure that proper asset management planning is installed for all the new infrastructure works that are about to commence. LED street lighting featured heavily in the discussions and the country is already committed to a rollout of several thousand LED lights.

They said that IPWEA’s leadership in this area could be of invaluable assistance.

The Consul General was very impressed with IPWEA’s international recognition for both the IIMM and the Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning and indicated that they were keen to engage with us in the immediate future to assist the Sri Lankan government.
