Rob Wilson – Manager IPWEA FLEET
Focusing on improving fleet's environmental performance can often deliver consequential benefits in other areas.
For example, initiatives to reduce fuel consumption by using more efficient cars or reducing idling (refer to February’s FLEET intouch) can provide savings in maintenance and fuel costs. Australia Post's current trial of electric delivery vehicles is a case in point. By using three-wheel electric 'postie bikes' there are clearly potential environmental benefits, but this initiative also has the potential to improve Workplace Health and Safety and operational efficiency. More detail is in this issue of FLEET intouch.
Arrangements for the IPWEA Australasian Fleet Conference are steaming along and we’re pleased to announce Simon Ginn, eminent engineer and urban planner as our opening keynote speaker. Simon will be presenting on Autonomous vehicles and their impact on fleet operations and maintenance. Registrations are open – so book now!
By the way – don’t forget to put forward your nomination for the IPWEA Fleet Achievement Award sponsored by Repco. With a $5,000 toolbox and complimentary registration to the IPWEA Australasian Fleet Conference in Brisbane up for grabs, it’s a prize well worth winning.
