There has never been a better time to enhance your infrastructure asset management knowledge and skills, with the Centre for Pavement Engineering Education now bringing three of its 2016 study units in-line with internationally-recognised IPWEA manuals.

The Centre for Pavement Engineering Education Inc (CPEE) is an accredited private provider of higher education, specialising in courses servicing the road and pavement sector. CPEE offers programs ranging from intensive, one-day short courses and distance learning programs through to postgraduate Masters-level awards.

IPWEA sponsors infrastructure asset management units of study within the joint CPEE, University of Tasmania (UTAS) post-graduate, distance-learning programs.

CPEE, UTAS and IPWEA recognise there is a continuing need for increased capability and knowledge in the work environment, particularly in technical areas associated with the design, construction and maintenance of road pavements and other major infrastructure assets. Yet, there is also increasing pressure on time and it is frequently not possible or convenient to undertake study via face to face courses at universities. CPEE’s distance education courses provide a unique and convenient option to learn and gain relevant knowledge and qualifications without the need to attend classrooms.

Three CPEE specialist infrastructure asset management core units have been updated for study in 2016, to bring them in line with the 2015 editions of IPWEA’s flagship publications: the International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM) and the Australian Infrastructure Financial Management Manual (AIFMM).

The fifth edition of the globally acclaimed IIMM has been driven largely by the introduction of the new ISO 55000 Asset Management Standards. Recognising that the ISO Standards are very much the “what to do”, the IIMM provides the “how to do it”, in terms of applying the standards for infrastructure asset management. More than 30% of the previous edition has been update including numerous new case studies. The second edition of the AIFMM provides the practical tools for asset and financial management practitioners to report and manage infrastructure assets in a nationally consistent way, complying with Australian Accounting Standards.

The updated units within the Infrastructure Asset Management programs are:

  • Asset management fundamentals
  • Asset management practices
  • Infrastructure financial management

Semester 1 commences on 22 February, so now is the perfect time to apply to study or re-enrol into one of the few infrastructure asset management professional programs available. If you are considering study and wanting to take the next step, visit the CPEE website.
