If you are passionate about sustainability and are keen to share your ideas and expertise with hundreds of like-minded professionals, the IPWEA wants to hear from you.

The Sustainability in Public Works Conference 2016 will be held 24 – 26 August at the Jasper Hotel, Melbourne.

IPWEA Director Sustainability Stephen Lees says he is now calling for abstracts of papers to be submitted.

Building on highly successful conferences held in 2008 and 2014, the theme for 2016 is A New Dawning for Sustainable Public Works.

The conference will build upon the learnings and outcomes of the 2014 conference, addressing the latest developments and future trends that public works professionals must be aware of.

It will bring together practitioners, researchers and service and product providers to focus on what we should be doing today to safeguard the future of our infrastructure and our communities.

Over its two full days of presentations, panel discussions and networking, the conference will help busy professionals make sense of recent sustainability developments, and identify ideas, useable knowledge and practical measures that can immediately be applied to make a real difference.

Special conference sessions will feature invited papers by key players in their fields presenting the latest developments in the important sustainability areas of street lighting and smart controls, sustainable roads management and urban design, landscaping, and community development.

Abstracts for quality papers on any topics related to sustainable public works are very welcome.
The following focus topics would be especially welcomed:

street lighting
green infrastructure
sustainable communities - greenfield and brownfield
energy efficiency
sustainable roads
New technologies
climate change mitigation and adaptation
asset management
stormwater – including drainage, WSUD and flood management
sustainability rating tools

The closing date for submission of abstracts is Friday, 12 February, 2016.

Abstracts can only be submitted via the conference website. Please refer to the conference website for general policies and requirements for submission of abstracts.
