IPWEA's Yardstick used to demonstrate efficiency and quality of services

The City of Onkaparinga was asked to demonstrate efficiency and quality of program delivery in parks, recreation and other service areas.

This article talks about how they used IPWEA's Yardstick benchmarking program to provide this evidence and guidance to further improvements.

Hi Vanessa, not too sure what you would like to know. However Yardstick defines very carefully what costs should be included/excluded for comparative benchmarking purposes. The main problem areas are depreciation and overheads, which can vary widely dependant on Councils approaches. The Yardstick benchmarking surveys collect this information, but our comparative key results are based on "direct" operating costs.

That is an interesting article Chris. Sorry that my response is a bit delayed but I am new to IPWEA. I have a lot more to say about this article and what costs Councils actually consider but I am not too sure what I can or can't write.
