Infrastructure Australia's annual report has endorsed recommendations to appoint a National Roads Portfolio Manager to look after the Commonwealth's road assets.
The endorsement comes after the Australian Rural Roads Group (ARRG) argued the Commonwealth has no idea about the true condition of the national rural road network.
ARRG is recommending that asset management plans be submitted to the federal government.
