NSW Division member Will Barton will take on the role as Young IPWEA Chair from Kim Sedgwick from July, it was revealed at IPWEA’s Conference in Rotorua.

“I wish Will the best in implementing the 2015-2016 action plan,” said Sedgwick.

Outgoing Chair Sedgwick has been involved in the Young IPWEA since its inception in 2012 and has helped establish a clear vision statement for the future.

Under her guidance, the group has established three clear goals: to establish a flagship Young IPWEA project; change perceptions of public works for students and graduates and establish a voice for young professionals in the industry.

She has also overseen the establishment of IPWEA’s Mentoring Program, which exceeded its initial goal of matching 20 mentors with mentees to match 35 pairs in its first year.

“We’ve had a lot of great support since Young IPWEA’s inception from the Board and the greater membership,” said Sedgwick.

“I encourage everyone when you go back to your division to get in touch with your Young IPWEA Chairs.”

In addition to Kim, Taryn King (WA) and Oliver Heyward (NZ) will be stepping down from the group from July. IPWEA would like to thank them for their commitment to the group.
