Level 7-8 ($79,704.56 - $98,156.24) + up to 12% Super
As the Coordinator Engineering you will be responsible to the Manager Asset Engineering and the Director Works for the efficient and effective development and delivery of engineering design and survey services for Council as follows:-
- Provision of competent engineering design, specification and cost estimation services for the development of Council's physical infrastructure.
- Provision of competent engineering drafting services in relation to Council's infrastructure and (on request) other information.
- Provision of competent engineering survey services and information in relation to Council's infrastructure.
- Management of Engineering Work Group staff, contractors and consultants in the delivery of the above services.
- Implement Quality and Safety Assurance measures to support "Quality and Safety in Design" principles.
- Provide a high standard of engineering opinion and advise to the Asset Management section.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
• Demonstrated practical experience in the planning and design of civil infrastructure within a local government context, specifically roads, bridges, drainage, buildings, structures and marine infrastructure.
• Demonstrated practical experience in the management of a design team/office with a service delivery focus.
• Ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplined team environment with the ability to stimulate a high level of performance and foster teamwork across a varied and multi-disciplinary workforce.
• Ability to provide effective supervision and development of staff, including career development and performance management.
• Good financial management skills to develop and manage budgets for infrastructure operational, maintenance and capital works programs.
• Effective communication, mediation, conflict resolution and negotiation skills and ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with various stakeholders (i.e. Councillors, Council employees, community members, businesses and other levels of government).
• Ability to effectively plan and organise own time as well as staff employed within the Section to achieve targets within a set timetable.
• Well developed analytical and investigative skills, in particular, demonstrated ability to think laterally and in a structured manner when solving complex problems.
• Good knowledge of Quality Assurance systems and implementation.
• Good knowledge of environmental management systems and implementation.
• Well developed project and contract management skills.
• Well developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Civil Engineering Diploma or other appropriate qualifications combined with extensive experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the position duties.
• Current Queensland Class C drivers licence.
- Desirable: • Demonstrated practical experience in the planning and design of water and sewerage infrastructure. • Demonstrated practical experience in traffic engineering and transport planning. • Bachelor of Engineering Degree or other appropriate qualifications combined with extensive experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the position duties. • Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). • Eligibility for Membership of Institute of Engineers, Australia.
