The IPWEA has outlined the fleet management education opportunities for the first half of 2013, including the first phase of the popular national series of one-day professional development workshops.
In addition to the workshops, the updated Fleet Management Certificate will become available from 1 March and the free online training for the Plant and Vehicle Management Tools will return in late February.
The professional development workshops will be held in nine locations across the country over a three-week period. The workshops will be held in May and a second round of nine workshops will be held in October.
The program for May will be available on the IPWEA website in the coming weeks.
“The workshops are about keeping up to date with the latest issues in the sector,” said Ross Moody, the IPWEA’s National Executive Officer.
“We have external presenters to talk about specific aspects of fleet management, for example, in May we’ll have presenters coming in to speak about fuel management – specifically the importance of fuel filters in controlling maintenance costs. Fuel related issues continue to be the single largest concern for modern diesel engines and we will be looking at how to combat this problem.
“There are different topics that will increase people’s knowledge and awareness of new technologies.”
The updated Fleet Management Certificate will now incorporate live, online training as part of the course fee, rather than an optional feature, as it has been to date. The online training will cover the Certificate’s six units over a five-week period starting from mid-March, after which the participants can complete each unit’s assessment.
The participants will have up to a year to complete the assessments, although most will be expected to fast track the process with the help of the online training.
Finally, the details for the free online training for the IPWEA plant and vehicle management tools will be released on the website in the coming weeks.
