Overview
The 2025 IPWEA Fleet Management Training Days will feature a program shaped by direct input from the IPWEA Fleet community and delegate feedback from the national conference. These training days will be held across Australia and New Zealand and are designed to deliver targeted, practical learning for fleet practitioners. The agenda begins with a Fleet Manager Roundtable, providing a platform to discuss local fleet challenges and compare them to the national top three issues. This interactive session fosters peer learning and collaborative problem-solving at each event location.
Attendees can then expect three core training sessions:
- Fleet Procurement – Developing Specifications for Utility and Truck Bodies
This session addresses a common challenge in public works and local government fleet teams—how to develop specifications that are technically sound and aligned with organisational goals. It will offer practical tips for fleet managers, especially those more familiar with light vehicles, to improve procurement outcomes and compliance.
- Maintenance Management Systems
This session will apply learnings from a 2024 Australian Roadworthiness Survey. It will walk through the eight key maintenance standards that underpin safety and reliability, with a focus on how to implement them across different fleet asset categories—not just heavy vehicles.
- Financial Management – Whole of Life Cost (WOLC) Calculations and Budgets
Here, the focus will be on equipping attendees with the tools to move beyond purchase price and understand the total cost of ownership. This includes WOLC calculations, setting internal hire rates, and budgeting principles that support sustainable fleet investment.
In addition to these, the agenda also includes a case study session, a sponsor presentation, and a supplier session, ensuring there’s a strong mix of peer experience, industry insight, and networking opportunities.
