President's Message

The planned introduction of a Statutory Registration Scheme for Victorian Engineers will impact upon engineers of all disciplines, including civil and environmental engineers working in local or state government.

Whilst the initial and ongoing registration requirements are unclear at this stage, IPWEA (Vic) has confirmed its broad support for the establishment of such a Scheme and congratulated the government on its commitment to this important initiative in support of public safety and sector development.

Our response to the state government’s recent SRS Consultation Paper is available from our Vic library along with a range of other submissions made on behalf of members recently. Please feel free to review them.

In the meantime, the Parliamentary Secretary for Treasury and Finance – Daniel Mulino MP – will be speaking about the Scheme at our end-of-year Leadership Lunch on 2 December (details below).

I urge all members to attend this event and hear what the future holds for Victorian engineers!
