IPWEA International Study Tour 2016

Best Practice and Innovation in Public Works

USA, SPAIN, NETHERLANDS 24TH Aug – 11th Sept 2016


The institute of proposing an International Study Tour to the United States, Spain and The Netherlands timed to include the American Public Works Congress and Exhibition to be held in Minneapolis from 28th to 31st August 2016.

It is proposed to visit several cities in the United States, Spain and The Netherlands after the APWA Congress departing 24th August and returning 11th September 2016. There is an opportunity to stay on and further explore the UK and Europe privately. The number and places of visits will depend on further planning, available funds and more detailed costing.

Applications to participate in the Tour are invited by participating State Foundations who are offering grants towards the cost of the Tour. Privately funded or employer funded participants may also apply to join the Tour. The Tour will be lead by Chris Champion, Director International of the IPWEA. The Australasia Office will be responsible for most travel, transport and accommodation arrangements.

The general Study Tour theme will be “Practice and Innovation in Public Works”. It is proposed to explore how individual study tour topics can also be investigated through this will need to be a part of a group decision.

The NSW Foundation support the IPWEA Australasian International Study tour to a maximum value of $10,000 with any successful applicant required to deliver a presentation at a State Conference plus three Regional Forums or Group meetings, and an article is to be prepared for inclusion in IPWEA publications or for use by IPWEA NSW in relevant trade publications. (*with consideration of any special requirements)

  • Previous position held
  • Other information
  • Membership of professional trade or other organisations
  • Involvement in IPWEA activities at a local, state or national level
  • Community service and other activities outside regular occupation
  • Details of previous overseas study experience and/or travel
