Emerging Leader Scholarship

Scholarship applications for 2024 are now closed. Application dates for 2025 scholarships will be released August 2024.

IPWEA’s Emerging Leader in Asset Management Scholarship supports the development of asset management capability, combined with the development of the leadership skills and techniques required to promote and lead sustainable practice within your organisation. Combining two world class online courses, the Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning and AGSM Leadership Fundamentals, this scholarship offers a significant development for an individual seeking to lead asset management into the future.

This scholarship recognizes AGSM’s recognition of the Professional Certificate course within the Certificate of Executive Management and Development (CEMD) micro credentialing scheme. At the conclusion of both courses, the recipient will have 6 points (12 required) to achieving AGSM’s CEMD credential.

Scholarship Inclusions

The scholarship recipient (1) will receive the following:

  • Enrolment in IPWEA’s Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning and AGSM’s Leading with Resilience.
  • A 1-year subscription to the International Infrastructure Management Manual (IIMM).
I am an Environmental Engineer/Scientist with experience working in local government and consulting. I have been with the City of Launceston for 5 years and currently lead the Water Team. The team comprises engineering and environmental specialists, and is responsible for management of the flood protection and stormwater drainage asset portfolios. Through the scholarship I look forward to connecting with other asset management professionals and better understanding the nuance of managing different asset classes. I'm eager to explore diverse methods and options for asset management, particularly effective communication of decisions to the community - an area I believe that needs improvement across the local government sector. I have been in a formal leadership role for a couple of years, and am always seeking opportunities to further develop my leadership skills. The Leading with Resilience Course included within the scholarship is particularly appealing in navigating challenges and uncertainties, crucial in the local government space. Leadership plays a significant role in influencing how challenges impact team members and identifying opportunities within these challenges.
