Stephen Yarwood is an Urban Futurist and former Lord Mayor of Adelaide, bringing decades of expertise at the intersection of planning, policy, and urban innovation. Stephen's academic foundation is broad and rigorous, encompassing a Bachelor of Arts in Planning, Graduate Diplomas in both Regional & Urban Planning and Environmental Studies, and an MB, all from the University of Adelaide. His professional credentials are equally distinguished; he is an award-winning member of the Planning Institute of Australia and holds membership in the prestigious Academy of Urbanism.
Before stepping into the role of Lord Mayor, Stephen accumulated wide-ranging experience across state government, parliament, local government, and international contexts, working as a planner, researcher, educator, and speaker. His planning portfolio spans the full spectrum from high-level strategy to on-the-ground implementation, encompassing major projects across diverse land uses and a broad array of environmental, economic, community, design, and development challenges.
