Many organisations have partnered with neighbouring councils and delivered training through their respective regional organisation of councils (ROC's) to not only save costs, but also to enable networking and shift the focus from council specific to greater regional issues.

Benefits of in-house training

The main advantage when a team trains together is the ongoing interaction around the new knowledge acquired and a consistency in skills that provides a return to both the individual and the business well beyond the training.

  • Fixed Costs - Cost effective solution with a saving of over 30% on our standard training fees
  • Save Time - No external travel or accommodation required
  • Customisable Content - Content alignment to meet your organisational requirements
  • Flexible Scheduling - Training is delivered on a day that is convenient to you
  • Teamwork & Collaboration - Involving your whole team improves the likelihood of utilising and implementing the training in your organisation
  • Networking and Partnerships - run training with neighbouring councils for networking and further cost savings

Testimonials

I’d highly recommend it. It was very good for what I wanted to do, because it got a group of people regionally in a room (GVROC) talking about asset management. We’re all on the same page, we’re all going to use NAMS model – we’ve been able to form our own little network.

We had over 20 people take part, and everyone was very satisfied that IPWEA provided an operation-focused workshop that they were able to take back to councils and work with straight away. The trainers’ knowledge of the whole practice note was clearly relevant.

What I like about when I organise regional training with IPWEA is they provide the handouts, they’re here early, set up well: they’re very professional.

When you do the regional training, you realign everyone back onto the same page. You create a forum where people can have an open discussion, and sometimes a robust discussion.

We’re able to spread the cost across 10 councils plus Transport and Main Roads, and because it’s in the region everyone can attend. Because it was held in Cairns, we’re able to put more people through the training; if it was in Brisbane we would have been pushing to get half a dozen people to attend.
