The Australian Government has committed to report annually on the progress of the National Road Safety Strategy.
Catherine King, Parliamentary Secretary, has outlined progress to date here.
The Strategy adopts ambitious targets to reduce road deaths by 50 per cent and serious injuries by 30 per cent by 2030. Based on the globally recognised Safe System approach, it involves everyone having a role to play in road safety-from governments to the community-to reach these ambitious targets and Vision Zero (zero road deaths and serious injuries on our roads) by 2050.
Road safety campaigners and advocates, researchers and the community were consulted in developing the Strategy. Their feedback played an important part in shaping the Strategy.
