NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian today announced a range of energy saving initiatives for businesses, renters, homeowners and local government.

Robert Fuller, IPWEA Australasia CEO and Chair of the Street Lighting and Smart Controls (SLSC) Programme, welcomed the funding announcement.

“Local government and industry will welcome these incentives to help accelerate the deployment and rollout of new LED lighting and smart controls across NSW," he said.

"This equates to about $208 per light that will help councils negotiate street light replacement programs with utilities who currently own the street lights. Switching from old energy guzzling street lights to super-efficient LEDs and smart controls will reduce energy consumption by at least 50% for those lights that are replaced."

IPWEA will make further statements on behalf of its SLSC Programme partners when more details are made available.
