About Our Conference

About

Thriving, Resilient Communities through Public Works

The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia - Tasmanian Division invites you to be part of the 2025 Tasmanian Works and Engineering Conference at the Tramsheds in Launceston.

With the theme "Thriving, Resilient Communities through Public Works" we are particularly interested in investigating how communities are building resilience and what efforts are being undertaken to ensure that communities thrive into the future.

Venue & Accommodation

This year's conference will be held at the Tramsheds Function Centre in Launceston, a fantastic, centrally located venue, and only a stones throw from many of the projects which will be discussed at the conference!

We look forward to seeing you there.

Awards Dinner

Excellence Awards and Dinner

Dinner on the Friday night at the Tramsheds Function Centre will be an excellent opportunity to build professional relationships with both public works professionals and sponsors.

The dinner will include the presentation of the IPWEA Tasmanian Excellence Awards in the following categories:

  • Young IPWEA Emerging Leader
  • Excellence in Public Works Project
  • Excellence in Asset Management, Innovation or Sustainability

Technical Tour

The 2025 tech tour will be a walk departing from city to the Gorge and First Basin area and will return to the city around midday Saturday morning.

From Kings Bridge Restaurant, it is approx 2km walk to the suspension bridge (~4 km return).

The Gorge and First Basin is a popular tourist attraction and it is hoped that this will be a pleasant way to spend a Saturday morning.

Please dress appropriately and be mindful we will be on foot for the morning. There are facilities within the Gorge and Basin area but please bring water, sunscreen and any personal needs with you. The path to and through the Gorge is undulating but not difficult, and we are not planning to go off sealed or formed pathways.
