Fit for Purpose Specifications for Managing Community Assets

This presentation will provide an overview of AUS-SPEC information, tools and technical specification templates, specification frameworks that are fit for purpose for managing urban and open spaces, buildings, sealed and unsealed roads and public utilities and processes to document requirements for various asset life cycle activities. It will also demonstrate the use of the system to create contract documentation for the design, construction, and maintenance of local government infrastructure assets to meet the growing needs of the communities. Specifying the use of recycled materials by embedding this information in the design, construction and maintenance specifications will also be discussed.

Nandini Mehta is AUS-SPEC Manager at NATSPEC, managing the national local government specifications for life cycle management of assets. A civil/structural engineer with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry in Australia and overseas. She has developed various new Technical documentation for different assets including roads, buildings, parks, public utilities and the new AUS-SPEC Rural Roads Package, and has expertise in the construction and maintenance of built environment. She ardently participates in the IPWEA Conferences, TfNSW Digital Engineering Forum, SBEnrc Projects and in the development and review of ARRB Guides, Australian Standards, Austroads Guides, IPWEA Practice Notes and International Infrastructure Management Manual. She is currently the Secretary of the IPWEA Metro North Regional Group.
