Registration Renewal

Registration Renewal

Renewal PER

Registration Expiry

Registration as a professional engineer in Victoria expires three years from the date it was granted – or renewed – by the Business Licensing Authority (BLA). To be eligible to renew your registration, you must have completed a minimum level of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity during the previous three years.

Information about the CPD requirements for registration renewal is available here.

CPD Records

You must keep a record of your CPD activities along with any supporting documentation. This can include a certificate, academic record, attendance record or a receipt if you purchase or hire learning resources. If you are audited by an Assessment Entity or the Business Licensing Authority, the record will prove you complied with your CPD requirements.

Consumer Affairs Victoria has launched an online CPD Log for professional engineers. The CPD Log will help professional engineers to:

  • Keep a running total of completed hours
  • Store CPD documents securely
  • Stay audit-ready and compliant with the regulations

Information about the Log and the CPD requirements for Professional Engineers is available here

CPD Audit

The CPD records of all registered professional engineers will be randomly audited within a seven-year period (i.e. 15 per cent a year). The BLA will use information obtained through the registration renewal process to select professional engineers for a CPD audit and advise an Assessment Entity of the names of the professional engineers they are required to audit.

IPWEA Victoria is an approved Assessment Entity and will undertake CPD audits as directed by the BLA.
