You will need to upload the following documents so we recommend you have them ready:
- Current photographic identification (Driver’s Licence or Passport)
- Washington Accord accredited Engineering degree (verify accreditation here)
- Curriculum Vitae (4 pages max.)
- Applicant Statement (6 pages max; download template here)
- Referee Statements x 2 (6 pages max; download template here)
- 1 Statement to be from a registered civil engineer (or a civil engineer eligible for registration) you have worked with for at least one year
- 1 Statement to be from someone who has managed/supervised you for at least one year
Note: At least one referee must have worked with the applicant within the last 5 years
Note to recent graduates
Per the following extract from Cl 2.1.2 Experience of our BLA-approved Assessment Scheme, an applicant applying for registration must have —
- Gained five years of engineering experience in civil engineering or a related area of engineering, of which at least four years must be post-graduate experience, and for applicants applying for registration as a ‘practising’ professional engineer, the experience was gained in the last 10 years.
A minimum of three years post-graduate experience within the last 10 years will be accepted by IPWEA Victoria if the applicant demonstrates competence as a result of accelerated learning (e.g. graduate program participation, mentoring by a registered professional engineer or endorsement by two referees) to the satisfaction of the assessor. IPWEA Victoria will use the following methods to assess an applicant’s experience:
- evidence reports from work experience
- interviews
