Sessions will be presented via a series of live and interactive webinars. The first three webinars provide core knowledge, delivered as a series, with another three webinars available as optional sessions for participants who have attended the webinar series.

Webinar One: Structures and Powers
Session: Tuesday 17 February 2015, 12 noon -1pm
This session outlines the parts of the Local Government Act relating to the intended structure of the administration of local government and the powers and responsibilities it gives to the various levels within the organisational structure of local government.

Webinar Two: Powers of Entry
Session: Tuesday 24 February 2015, 12 noon -1pm
Local government officers have statutory powers conferred upon them for the entry to private property for the purpose of carrying out their responsibilities under the Local Government Act and other associated acts. What are these powers, their limitations and possible repercussions?

Webinar Three: Assets and Contracts
Session: Tuesday 3 March 2015, 12 noon -1pm
Much is being stated about the topic of sustainability but the way assets are procured and operated is not always recognised as a prime consideration for the long term financial sustainability of local government. This session will cover what the Local Government Act sets out as procurement requirements plus some procedural recommendations.

Webinar Four: Water supply
Session: Tuesday 10 March 2015, 12 noon -1pm
Drought conditions and the regionalisation of water supply functions in south-east Queensland brought about significant amendments to the water supply section of the Local Government Act. These have an effect on local governments throughout Queensland and are outlined in this session.

Webinar Five: Work Health and Safety
Session: Tuesday 17 March 2015, 12 noon -1pm
How are the risks and responsibilities covered within the workforce of your organisation? Is the use of the PPE and JSA’s sufficient? How the legislation is far reaching and impacts all levels of personnel in your organisation will be covered in this session.
