After five years as CEO of Engineers Australia, Stephen Durkin has announced his resignation.

Durkin says he decided to leave the organisation to pursue new career opportunities.

Reflecting on his resignation, Durkin said, "I am extremely proud of the organisational transformation over the past few years and feel that it is now time to move on."

"I have enjoyed working with our staff and many stakeholders to deliver an improved organisation for our members, and to raise the status and impact of the engineering profession in Australia and through our overseas chapters."

Chairman John McIntosh thanked Durkin on behalf of Engineers Australia for his hard work, dedication and commitment and congratulated him on his work in building the brand and profile of Engineers Australia.

A search will begin immediately for a new CEO. In the interim, current Chairman John McIntosh will act as Executive Chairman and current executive Ron Watts will take on the role of Chief Operating Officer until a replacement Chief Executive Officer is recruited.
