Key Dates

IPWEA invites the submission of abstracts to be considered for presentation at the next International Public Works Conference to be held from Monday 25 August – Thursday 28 August 2025 at the International Convention Center, Sydney. Contributed papers are an integral part of the success of the Conference and the Organising Committee is seeking papers and presentations that are topical, relevant, stimulating and will expand thinking on a variety of issues within the conference theme: Shaping Tomorrow’s World

This is a chance to share your knowledge and experiences with your peers both locally and internationally and we encourage you to submit an abstract.

Conference Streams

Our central conference theme Shaping Tomorrow’s World captures the urgency and opportunity of creating a resilient, forward-thinking foundation for public works and engineering. In a rapidly transforming global landscape, the choices we make today lay the groundwork for a sustainable, thriving future. IPWEA is committed to leading this charge by fostering innovation, advancing professional excellence, and empowering communities to shape a better world for generations to come. Together, we will redefine what's possible in building tomorrow’s infrastructure and inspiring progress.

Submitted abstracts will generally be allocated under one of the following broad headings, all aligned with our central theme:

  • Sustainability
  • Asset Management
  • Public Works in Action
  • Technology

IPWC NEXTGEN New to IPWC

For the first time at IPWC2025 IPWEA will be inviting early-stage career professionals to present a NextGen presentation. NextGen segments provide an opportunity to present a project or initiative in a condensed 10-minute format. The purpose of the NextGen segment is to showcase rising talent and the projects being led across our sector. There will be NextGen segments in each of the conference streams. Submissions will follow the same review process as the standard conference presentation.

Criteria:

  • Next Gen speakers are expected to be less than 5 years post-graduate
  • Accepted speakers will be required to register for the conference at the Associate Member Early rate.
  • It is expected that NextGen presentations are supported by a maximum of three PPT slides
