  • 1.  Proposed Telstra Pits in Road Median

    Posted 04-07-2016 08:56

At the City of Gosnells we are increasing the width of a road reserve so we can upgrade a single carriageway road to a dual carriageway road. As a result the existing utility services won't be on the standard alignment.

In this situation the existing Telstra pits will be located within the proposed median and have the appropriate offset of 1.5m plus from traffic lanes. There is some reluctance from Telstra to do this. Has anybody experienced this and where does Local Government stand when Telstra refuse to allow this?

    Regards

I tried to include a link on Google map that shows where I did this about 25 years ago, although WH & S requirements have changed over time.

We provided type F barrier surround to the Telstra pit on the approaches.

    hope this helps.

    Justin,

Telstra are notoriously difficult to deal with.

I have has success by advising Telstra, in writing, that if they don't agree any future problems will be their responsibility. Remind the m that we try to plan and manage the road reserve, including all the service authorities.

    Good luck!

Until the 'road authority' has the authority, this problem will continue.
