Welcome from Committee Chair

On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to invite you to register for the IPWEA Western Australia’s 2019 Public Works Professional Development Week from Monday 18 - Friday 22 November at The Rise in Maylands.

Formerly branded as the Public Works Training Week, this signature event has been rebranded as the Public Works Professional Development Week and is, as always, aimed at contributing towards the personal growth and continuous development of industry professionals working in the public works sector.

This is also the Institute’s single, most significant training event in Western Australia.  It covers a wide range of topics and allows senior managers the opportunity to nominate  staff members to attend and expand their knowledge and skills-base, and includes opportunities that allow them time to meet and interact with their peers from other organisations and work environments.

The committee always work hard to ensure that the program allows attendees to walk away with practical, hands on training that can be easily implemented into the work place, and that it includes an excellent line-up of presenters, and a large range of topics.

This training event was previously aimed at younger staff and member under 35, however the Public Works Professional Development Week has been expanded to provide training to staff at all levels, including staff within the administration, supervisory, technical and operations areas of public works.

As Public Works Professionals roles are constantly evolving to keep up with ever-changing work and economic environment, the need to keep up with changing technologies becomes more important than ever before.  With change comes new challenges and opportunities and the training and upskilling of staff is important for people's career growth and development.

Our aim is to provide Public Works Professionals with a range of new and improved skills designed to keep them up to date with new information and technologies, allowing them to reach their full potential. Senior Managers are encouraged to nominate as many delegates as possible to attend this event.

Shared registrations are available for this event, allowing great value for money, and the option to send different staff members to sessions specific to their requirements.

What's Included?

With a wide variety of Streams covering Asset Management; Stormwater; Policy & Legislation Updates; Utilities; Culture & Values; Leadership; Waste & Recycling and Policies, Acts & Compliance there's something for everyone.

Wednesday has been dedicated to all things Main Roads, and includes sessions on Pedestrian Crossings at Intersections; Traffic Signals Approval Policy; Main Roads Speed Zone Policy Review Update and Smart Freeways.

New Format

Following on from last years successful program, the Organising Committee have changed the format to include a mix of both single stream days and days running concurrent streams.

Event App!

We are also doing a second trial of the IPWEA Event App for this event - let us know what you think!

You will need to download the (free) IPWEA Events app from your app store. Once the app has downloaded and you open it for the first time, (you will not require a login), it will take a few minutes to configure. Then you can scroll through the program, check out the presenter bio's and rate the presentations.

The Event App can be used to take notes on the sessions you attend and to keep track of the program.

Have Your Say! Give us feedback as you go by rating the presentations!

We'd particularly like your feedback about the presentations you've attended so be sure to "Rate this Presentation" after each session - simply open the program in the app, click on the presentation you attended, go to the Resources button and click on "Rate this Presentation". Rating a presentation will only take less than 3 minutes.
