Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the administration of NZS 3910 contracts, as well as potential errors and misunderstandings to avoid. Comprehensive notes are provided for future reference. More than a lecture, at regular intervals this workshop involves working in groups on solutions to practical problems in contract administration.
Both Engineer’s Representative training and Contractor’s Representative training are delivered in this workshop, because a mutual understanding of the two roles is important for each side, and many participants may find themselves alternating between these two roles during their career.
Content of this course was updated in 2018 and covers the 2013 revisions of NZS 3910 conditions of contract, and publication of the new NZS 3916 for design and construct contracts.
For organisations working on contracts let under NZS3910:2003, the workshop also covers how the old and new versions of the standard differ.
This course has been well received by hundreds of participants from local authority, consultant, contractor and subcontracting organisations and is one of IPWEA NZ’s most popular workshop.
Who should attend
Those in the role of either Engineer's Representative or Contractor’s Representative under NZS3910 construction contracts, and those who aspire to these roles.
What to bring
Please bring a copy of NZS 3910 “Conditions of Contract for Building and Civil Engineering Construction” (2013 edition) for reference during the workshop.
A limited number of loan copies will be available at the workshop. Alternatively, new copies of NZS3910:2013 can be purchased from Standards New Zealand, Private Bag, Wellington or via email to: email@example.com.
Andrew Brickell is a very experienced construction contracts practitioner and presenter, who also covers other topics in IPWEA NZ’s training programme. Andrew was the IPENZ and ACENZ representative on the Standards NZ 3910 revision committee, making him well placed to explain the reasons for the important changes introduced by the 2013 revisions.
Having completed this workshop, participants may later wish to attend the IPWEA NZ 'Engineer to the Contract' workshop which deals with advanced topics in more depth.
This workshop is accepted by the NZTA as part of the accreditation process for those in the role of Engineers Representative on NZTA projects.
