    Hi

As a Canadian , we are new to asset management and would like to know for asset management decision making or modelling , do you separate the linear assets and vertical assets for Water and Wastewater Services in Australia or New Zealand. We have wells, pumps, reservoirs , wastewater treatment plants, pump stations but also own the linear infrastructure like wastewater collection mains, laterals, transmission mains, gravity mains, manholes etc. Could you share some info on treatments, treatment triggers,  for these two types of assets.

    thanks

    Arun,

My organization (Halifax Water) is a water, wastewater, and stormwater utility in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. We would be happy to share how we have broken out our linear and vertical assets for inclusion in our asset management plan as one example for consideration. Please reach out to me if you would like to discuss and we can have a call.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Arun,
I work at the Toronto Transit Commission, we are also at the beginning of our asset management journey, but I have seen some really amazing models of wastewater collection from the region of Niagara and the region of Peel, I will PM you my contact info.  They have amazing colour coded pipes based on a combination of risk factors.

Thanks Emma. It will be great if you can send me AM contacts specific to water and wastewater from both Peel and Niagara.
My challenges in this industry is that we have both vertical and buried assets and how do you treat them differently for condition, risks etc. Do you go by a BCA for a treatment plant and one specific to buried assets for linear or do you have an industry specific condition that I can follow. If there is a multiple criteria on the condition then do you weigh them like 20% age, 30% on BCA, 50% process eqpt condition. As I am not from the industry, I like to follow what is the best practice in your industry.

    thanks
