Design and Construct Contract

We are exploring design and construct options for a number of capital projects of varying degrees within Hobsons Bay and seek any advice and/or documents you are willing to share.  In the immediate, we have reached concept designs for an indoor sports facility expansion and now seek to go D/C.  Any advice specifically on risk management associated with commencing D/C at concept stage would be appreciated.

    Hi there,

In NZ we use the NZ Standard: Conditions of contract for building and civil engineering - Design and Construct. (NZS 3916:2013).

Not sure how useful it will be in Aus but hope it helps

One piece of advice would be to make sure that your Principal's Project Requirements (PPRs) are really strong, well defined and clear, this ensures that there is no ambiguity on who is responsible for what.

    G'day Marg,

We use AS4902 General Conditions of contract for these works which you can get from SAI Global. I've emailed you some accompanying documents that might help you out being Conditions of Tender, Returnable Schedules, Specification and an example of completed Annexures A and B for the 4902 contract.

All the best with your project mate.

    Cheers. Ricey
