Road Drainage

Hi, I am doing a project where I need to improve the road drainage system in a rural road. Although one side of the road has a successful drainage flow, the water on the other side of the road is just sitting there. If I put a culvert across the road so the water goes to the other side the problem will be solved but unfortunately it is a confined area therefore there is not enough space. I thought about a gully pit with a pipe across the road but the I am worried about the future maintenance as it is a rural road. Does anyone have any alternatives for this particular problem? ------------------------------------------- Chamila Kariyawasam Senior Technical Officer City of Busselton BUSSELTON WA -------------------------------------------

Do you have a photo of the area in question Chamila?  It might help others come up with a solution.  Also before and after shots could be useful to anyone faced with a similar problem in the future.

Can you attach a cross-section of the road and maybe give some indication of the immediate topography?

Have you considered grading the road so it only slopes to the side with the drainage?
