ARRB Group is currently seeking nominations from Local Government for sites to include in our current project which is focussed on applying Safe System solutions to an urban arterial route. It does not matter if this route is managed by a state road agency or local government, but if you are not the road manager it would help to get their endorsement where possible.
A multidisciplinary project team will work with road managers and local authorities to develop design solutions and estimate the safety and traffic impact of this design. Unfortunately the project doesn’t involve payment for detailed design or construction.
4 locations are to be selected from around Australia and New Zealand. Ideal routes will have the following attributes:
Have ‘higher’ traffic volumes
Have a mixture of road users, including cars, pedestrians, cyclists, delivery vehicles, public transport etc
Be between 500m – 2km in length
Have a demonstrated safety problem.
