Determine the Grade of a Road Segment

    Good Morning All,
Are there any easy way to determine the average grades of different road segments in a road network?
This is to identify the Strategic Routes which are classified as having a minimum average grade of 6% according to the VGC Manual.

    Thank you.

    If no other easier way...

Just a suggestion: A geospatial query with formula on road segments (polygon buffers from centrelines) with contours? (by each segment?)

This could be easy or really difficult.
If you have a good survey set of levels and assume a straight line for the gradients.
With a good GPS you could locate the start and end points then use the data from the GPS, If you did this I would suggest only going to suspected locations rather than all of them.
If your segmentation is based on seals it could be a timely exercise but if you have based it on intersections that would be easier.

Let us know what, or if,  you do anything.
