    Hi All,

Wondering if someone could assist with a standard tender specification to complete a condition assessment (CCTV) and the cleaning of a 150mm dia. AC potable water main?

I typically use acoustic testing for water mains.  Also do assessment of pipes repaired to determine internal condition whenever possible (we waste maintenance opportunities frequently for condition assessment data).

If you still insist on CCTV, you will need to have pigging specs for pre cleaning (any tuberculation products will make CCTV difficult to perform).  Attached spec is for sewer pipe cleaning and CCTV for DICL-CI pipes which have internal corrosion products, so may work for your application.  You will need to specify camera equipment not previously used for sewer work and add special flushing and disinfecting pipe after inspection prior to putting back into use.

Which is why I prefer to use the external acoustic testing method so I don't have to deal with all the requirements of internal inspections.  What you want to know is if you have any leaks on the pipe due to faulty joints or weak pipe material (such as the white PVC that was installed in the 1970s-1980s).  Echologics acoustic equipment will also provide a remaining thickness of pipe material with their acoustic testing methods.  If you want to consider this method, contact them in Australia.

    Good luck, hope this helps.
