  • 1.  Road segmentation

Thanks to those who replied to my first post on this now another issue has arisen about chainage.
I am seeking opinion or practice on where a road crosses another road does the chainage stop at that road or continue through the intersection?

    Example: Segment 1 has ch00 - 100, intersection width is 20m does segment 2 start at ch120 or ch100?
If it starts at ch100, won't it end up duplicating the intersction in the total length for roads?
It will also mean that the end chainage will not be able to be used to calculate area unless the intersections are removed, easily done by using length of section instead of end ch.
Using 120 also means not deducting the intersection when travelling along the length, but I am interested in hearing what people do.

    My preference is ch120.
