TMR suspension of sprayed sealing works

    Hi everyone,

This post is targeted at those in Queensland who are impacted by the Department of Transport and Main Roads State wide suspension of sprayed sealing works.

Has anyone had any success in gaining an approval to seal during the past couple of weeks?  If so, what was the process?

We have sections of pavement which have remained unsealed and under traffic control for the duration of the suspension & are expecting reasonable rain late this week, but can't get an approval to do an emulsion primerseal.

    Cheers,

    Hi Luke,

I believe it is still current and will be till end of August at this stage (could be extended.

The advice I have been given is, the approval to undertake sealing works has to come from TMRs Chief Engineer and approvals will only be given on a case by case.

Talk to the district/TMR rep for the project and they should be able to advise.

    Cheers,

    Thanks Aaron,

I've had similar advice from the district.  I've been in regular contact with District staff who have been pushing Brisbane for a response, but still nothing.

My intention with the original post was to prompt some discussion in the community about the issue & to learn if it was perhaps being handled differently in other districts.  My staff & I cannot comprehend the rational behind such a direction.  Unfortunately the delay and associated cost to the program aren't widely understood by the public & are probably not as newsworthy as a failed seal.

    Regards,

May I ask the reason behind the suspension of sprayed seals?  I can't find a reference on the TMR site.

Pretty sure the above two incidents are the root cause of the halt.
