Quarry Royalties

    Hi Mates,

Council is currently negotiating with a landowner the renewal of our quarry access agreement, and they are asking for a near doubling of their current royalties.

Council currently pays about $0.83/tonne of material taken out. Note this is unspecified, uncrushed material that is suitable only for sub-base or gravel roads. We charge ourselves internally approx $4-6/tonne for it, so I think the request for $1.60 seems high.

What are others paying in royalties for quarries?

    Cheers

    G'day Nathan,

We work with a number of Council's across NSW and QLD and the royalties in our experience are currently ranging from $0.625 to $1.25 per tonne for raw material. We will quite often also grade up roads whilst working in that area as part of the arrangement.

    Cheers. Ricey
