    Hello mates,

    Our Wastewater department would like to get some inputs an RFP for doing a condition assessment of a pumping station that is more than 30 years old and in a critical condition. could you please provide me some information that I can pass it on to the folks there.

    ​Hi Arun,

    When assessing Pump Stations there is a range of different techniques that can be applied depending on the size and flow of the PS. I can't comment on which would be best for your specific PS.  However, I would recommend breaking down the PS components based on their relevant useful life (refer to attached diagram). I would request that the consultant provide estimations of the remaining useful life for each component so that you can better identify the renewal/rehabilitation needs. Full replacement can be costly but timely rehabs can be a cost effective way to extend the useful life of the asset.  You may also want to consider any growth impacts to the PS.  If there is a lot of growth in the respective catchment you may find that upgrades to capacity may supersede rehabilitation needs.  Hope this info is helpful!
