There is a proposal to realign an unseal road in the remote community with very low population in the area. Would like to know what would be the initial scope requirements to this proposal and how to proceed with minimum budget. What are the factors to be looked in to during the construction process.

    G'day Mate,

For a job like this before you spend any considerable dollars, you could use Google maps to get an idea of the quantity of land you will need to acquire for this alignment. Then use your general rate information to calculate a basic land value for this portion, and if it's in a remote rural area the cost for compensation should be minimal. You'll also need an estimate of legal fees from Council's legal counsel, and an estimate for detailed survey of the area for the new alignment.

With this information you can then make some more informed decisions and have the relevant discussions with the affected landholder.

I am currently going through a similar process for a QLD Council at the moment and this is how we've approached it until we are sure everything will proceed. Will then get the survey done and make it happen.
