In accordance with Section 6 of its Constitution, an election is to be held for the Board of Directors of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia Victoria Division, for the term 2011 – 2014. Three members of the current Board of Directors have elected to retire at the IPWEA (victoria division) 2011 Annual General Meeting, but they are eligible to stand for re-election for the ensuring three-year term. A forum, convened by Engineers Australia and supported by IPWEAvic and Consult Australia, has developed a seven-point plan to be considered for the improvement of flood planning and management in Victoria. The plan was the result of a review of the floods in the state last January. The forum noted that the performance of government agencies, local government, community groups and private bodies during the floods had been very good, overall, with a low level of injury and only one lost life.
