Why did you become an IPWEA Member?

I became a member as a professional obligation, mainly for undertaking training courses.

What are the benefits for your role/career?

I didn’t realise at the time of joining, but the benefits I have enjoyed include; access to training courses and forums that are specific to my role, updates on industry standards and best practices, and networking with other Engineers and Project Managers from both Local Government and Private Organisations in Victoria. I also participated in the Engineering Leadership Program in 2019, which was a great way to facilitate those conversations.

What would you say to someone considering a membership?

I would recommend joining IPWEA to someone considering a membership, particularly those working in Local Government Infrastructure Departments and young members (under 35). They not only benefit from reduced membership fees, but I think it’s also important for young Engineers and Project Managers to continually develop their technical knowledge as well as their ‘soft skills’ through training.
